Services Provided: Immediate and free legal help to anyone arrested or detained by the Chicago Police Department. When necessary, FDLA volunteer attorneys will go down to the police station, interview the arrestee, inform him/her of basic constitutional rights and police procedures, give information about bond and serve as a link between the arrestee and his/her family and friends. FDLA’s services cover the initial and most critical stage of police detention, immediately after arrest.

Free emergency hotline for people in Chicago Police Department custody and their families 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Streetlaw: educational program to teach at risk youth and adults their rights when dealing with police, including instructions on what to do and say when one is stopped, arrested or questioned by the police. Occurs 2-3 times per month, scheduled on an as-requested basis.
